About Angela
Angela Fontaine is a dedicated psychotherapist with deep roots in Fort McMurray, where she was born and raised. Her academic journey has equipped her with a rich and diverse background, including a degree in Sociology, a Health Science degree in Addictions Counselling from the University of Lethbridge, an Education Degree from the University of Alberta, and a Masters in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University.
Starting her career in 2003, Angela worked and was involved in community agencies working as an addictions and family counselor. In 2005, Angela began serving the Fort McMurray Catholic School Board as a teacher and more recently in the last 4 years, as a school guidance counsellor. Her extensive experience working with youth and young adults has provided her with a profound understanding of their unique challenges and needs. Angela’s collaborative approach integrates various therapeutic modalities, ensuring that each client’s journey is individualized and effective.
Angela is passionate about using play-based therapies when working with children and building strong, trusting relationships with all her clients. Her specialty lies in walking alongside clients at their own pace, fostering a supportive and empathetic environment.
As a Canadian Certified Counsellor Therapist registered with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and the Association of Counselling Therapy of Alberta (ACTA) soon to be under CAP (College of Alberta Psychologists) as a Counselling Therapist.
